Dear Highland Creek Hurricanes:

It’s been a great first week of practice so far! Here are a few updates:

Swimsuit marketplace: At the suggestion of several parents, we will have a box available at practice starting today to collect any gently used or new swimsuits that your swimmer has outgrown. These can be team suits with the logo, plain black suits for meets, or practice suits. Next week, we will make the collected suits available to other parents in exchange for a small donation to the team. The team is facing some unanticipated costs related to the league’s new timing system, so this will help close the deficit (donations are also welcome!) while providing an opportunity to pass along gently used swimsuits.

Merchandise: We will start distributing caps and PDQ cards ordered through registration during practice next week. Additional caps and PDQ cards will also be available for purchase even if you did not order them through registration. The t-shirt order will be placed tomorrow based on the numbers requested through registration and those will be available for pick-up in a few weeks.

Volunteers: We need each family to sign up for at least 2 volunteer slots during the season, preferably 3 or 4. Thank you to everyone who has signed up in the past few days, but we still have about 30 slots to fill. We especially need volunteers who are willing to complete the online training to become stroke and turn judges (training cost is reimbursed and the certification lasts for two years). This is a great way to learn more about proper stroke technique and pass that information along to your swimmer(s)!
